It is distributed widely around the world. It is the best-researched and clinically tested of the medicinal mushrooms. It is best known for the presence of two distinct polysaccharide-protein isolates which are specific to this species: PSK (Polysaccharide-Kureha) and PSP (Polysaccharide P).
